Multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Jane Gillman was born in Washington, DC. Gillman describes her music as “roots gone to rock school, then to church, then to a mountaintop.” Citing influences ranging from Sarah McLaughlin to the Beatles, and incorporating folk, blues, rock, and even Cajun flavors, Gillman has recorded three solo albums, Pick it Up, Jane Gillman (Green Linnet Records) and List of Wishes, (High Road Records) various band albums, and a duet album with Darcie Deaville, Ways to Fly, (Flying Fish/Rounder Records).
Gillman has had her songs performed all over the world by artists such as Nanci Griffith, Chenille Sisters, and Christie Albert, and her musical theater projects include Woody Guthrie’s American Song (1990-1997) and Dark of the Moon (2000).
